Strategic distribution partnership with ALMEDA

Tampere, Finland, 19 March 2026—Marginum Ltd, a Finnish medical technology company specialising in fluorescence-based tissue monitoring systems, has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with ALMEDA, a Prague-based supplier of medical devices and surgical technologies. Under the partnership, ALMEDA will distribute Marginum’s HIVEN® device in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, expanding access to Marginum’s aspirate tissue monitoring solution across Central Europe.

The HIVEN® device, developed by Marginum, is intended for tissue fluorescence detection in fluorescence-guided surgical operations for suspected high-grade gliomas in which 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) is used. The device detects fluorescence of tissues flowing within a transparent ultrasonic aspirator tube and provides intraoperative auditory feedback on tissue fluorescence to assist neurosurgeons’ decision-making.  Designed to support surgeons in achieving more precise tissue differentiation and improved surgical outcomes, the CE-marked device is now available to neurosurgeons in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Expanding access in Central Europe

Fluorescence-guided surgery (FGS) with 5-ALA is widely used to help neurosurgeons identify tumour tissue, yet visual fluorescence detection can be hindered by bleeding, tissue obstructions, deep surgical cavities, and the need to repeatedly switch between white- and blue-light modes. The ATM approach is designed to complement visual methods by continuously monitoring fluorescence from resected tissue as it travels through a suction tube, without requiring changes to operating-room illumination or additional invasive steps.
